Quotes and Thoughts for the Day

Tricia, I'm so sorry to hear that. It's like choosing which child to keep! I do not envy you that task. :hugs You do sound as though you have a good plan. Good luck with your girls and may you find them all a good home, like your very own.:hugs Just in case you needed another.

Thanks!

So has anyone else's multi-quote button disappeared?

Thanks and yes it is funny how chicken math can take over. It wouldn't be a big deal if we were staying but our 86 year old landlord is making our lives miserable. So we are trying to fight them kickin us out before our lease is up. We have done nothing against our lease but the old timer has decided he no longer wants us here. He seems to be suffering from dementia, he tried to tell us he would be parking a friend of his in our front area of the property this past winter. He expected we would be ok with that and that we would allow this stranger to have access to our bathroom and kitchen. On top of that he thought we would dig her out when it snowed hard! We said heck no to that. Anyway, the guy owns the property and his family is somewhat involved. The son said he has no problems with us but his dad has decided we have got to go.
That is too bad, have you found a better place to relocate to? It does sound like you'd be much better off with out having to deal with all of that.

Has anyone ever had a chicken lay an egg without the shell?

This is so funny you asked. I just posted a photo for someone on another site that asked the same question. Does it have a cover..and a yolk inside? Here is mine. These happen once in a while, even if they are getting enough calcium..lay one like this one day, fine the nest. Sometimes it happens if they are going into a molt.

Had to open it and see if it was all there. Yep.

Well the first one looked just like the one in the picture. But yesterday I had one with no shell or cover. It looked like an egg that you just opened to put in the fry pan. It had a full yoke and the White part.

CoChix..nooo, you have to down size? So sorry for the troubles you are having. Hope you find the perfect place, and get to stay a while. Then you can get going with that chicken math again.

Wild Bill, I've had that happen too, only once though, and it was this yr. It only happened once..so far. I thought, now where in the world did that shell go? My mind wasn't thinking right at first..lol. Then after thinking a chicken had eaten it, I thought, no...it would have eaten the egg too. No more after that. Hope all is well tomorrow for you.

Is she going into molt? Can happen then.

I'm not sure about the molt, but I have 3 chickens that are just coming of age to lay. Could that be the reason?

Thanks to you both. Things are in the works, but the housing market in Colorado is ridiculous right now. Super hard to find a spot and to lock it down before someone else snatches it up. We have a lot of people moving here due to the legalization of Marijuana with everyone wanting to hit it big. We have a temp spot to land (for a year) until we can find the right spot, if we can't find something before then.
