Quotes and Thoughts for the Day

I got one of these just recently. Early spring when I had new ones starting to lay. Fart eggs. So small. I thought possibly I would see a small yolk inside, no, just the white.
These are mine on top..not sure why that other photo from the other site went clear down there!
Anyway, those others are also pullet eggs, small, but not as small as the one!

What is man without beasts? If all the beasts were gone, man would die fr great loneliness of the spirit. For whatever happens to the beast soon happens to man. Chief Seattle 1854

This is a sign at my vet :) I never noticed it before.

Yes, a couple of mine did that in their first year of laying. It was like an egg with the membrane but no hard shell. I can mean they need extra calcium but it is not an uncommon thing.
Yes, some folks keep their birds in a run. Mine are free range in the back yard, they get grass..which has clacium in it, and other weeds too. I used to keep them in the run, but haven't in a while. When they were in the run, I would put a lot more oyster shell out for them..to eat when they wanted it. I now put it out about once a week. I see some go after it right away, others won't for a while. They say, that they know when they need it. Interesting.

It is amazing to me how they seem to know just what they need. Instinct or intelligence, doesn't matter which, they are a lot smarter than we give them credit for.
