Hey everyone, DH got to pick where we went today and he chose the Ring of Beara (Beara Peninsula, West Cork) At the moment, with it being summer, this island is one big flower garden. All along the roads, there are foxgloves and other flowers growing in abundance. So pretty! I didn't get pics of all the different "roadside" flowers, but I did take some for you all today. I must go find some wild roses, oh my heck, those things are AMAZING. Their smell! I picked one and left in my car with the windows up, to scent my car, it was that good. I got loads of pics, so I'm going to divide them in posts and upload them small, click to enlarge
Really neat flowers, interesting how the ones are growing out of the stone walls.

“There are things in the world that cannot be brought about. There are mistakes that cannot be repaired. But there is one thing sure -- that loyalty and friendship are the most precious possessions a man can have.”

Freedom is the open window through which pours the sunlight of the human spirit and human dignity.

Children are our most valuable natural resource.

About the time we can make the ends meet, somebody moves the ends.

Peace is not made at the council table or by treaties, but in the hearts of men.

“My country owes me nothing. It gave me, as it gives every boy and girl, a chance. It gave me schooling, independence of action, opportunity for service and honor.”

“Be patient and calm; no one can catch fish in anger.” “All men are equal before fish.”

“No one ever listened themselves out of a job.”

“New discoveries in science will continue to create a thousand new frontiers for those who still would adventure”

Engineering is a great profession. There is the satisfaction of watching a figment of the imagination emerge through the aid of science to a plan on paper. Then it moves to realisation in stone or metal or energy. Then it brings homes to men or women. Then it elevates the standard of living and adds to the comforts of life. This is the engineer's high privilege.
The great liability of the engineer compared to men of other professions is that his works are out in the open where all can see them. His acts, step by step, are in hard substance. He cannot bury his mistakes in the grave like the doctors. He cannot argue them into thin air or blame the judge like the lawyers. He cannot, like the architects, cover his failures with trees and vines. He cannot, like the politicians, screen his sort-comings by blaming his opponents and hope the people will forget. The engineer simply cannot deny he did it. If his works do not work, he is ******.
