Quote: Sometimes temperature can change the color and petal attitude.
Other times the bloom can come off of a small wedge of genetic tissue that is a sport, a genetic change. That is how some apples or Camellias -or that rose that Sumi showed us- can be half one color and half one other color. It is called a chimera.
If that is the case, then when the plant sends off a branch out from this node, that entire branch will be that color flower. When you propagate that branch you can have a new variety.
I believe your double peach is called Jane Cowl. We have never had ours do that, so I am thinking it is a chimera.

Thank you so much. I was kinda bummed. Because I paid more for the peach. But that makes sense. :)

I can not imagine that anyone would bother grafting Jane Cowl since it roots so easily- you paid more? really? that isn't right, anyway if it was grafted-thus paying more- it could be a shoot off of the graft. In which case you need to go down to the base and see if that branch is coming off below any noticeable graft line and remove it.

I had to pay more for it being a double, not a single. It was at Lowe's. :idunno
