I've had surgery and anaesthesia a few times, most recently in January and it's o.k. Really! Try to remember to ask them to stitch you up with NON-disolveable stitches. I had "dissolve" ones for my first cancer surgery in November and yeah… Let's leave it there
As for the procedure, they'll prep you some before hand, nothing major, then you go into the theatre and they'll make you sleep soon as possible. Ask the anaesthetist if they can give you a nerve blocker as well. Those are incredible with managing the discomfort afterwards. After the procedure, it's like waking up from a deep sleep. You'll feel a bit groggy at first, but give yourself a few minutes, then just get up slowly. You'll be fine.
