I apologize that this is so long but I didn't want to edit it since there is such good stuff in it. Thank you all for bearing with me and for your prayers and thoughts for Kyle.

Hello everyone!
Today was another treatment. Kyle had to have an exam and chemo.
Although all of that combined probably takes 30 minutes, we were at
the clinic for 3 and a half hours... Lots of waiting today. However,
Kyle did AWESOME! He was extremely patient with all the waiting. Last
week Kyle really had a hard time with lifting his shirt and the
"access" part when they get his port ready for the chemo. Today, he
was completely different. He did not cry at all and lifted his shirt
with no arguing or complaining. One odd thing (at least to me) is that
Kyle is fascinated by watching them take his blood. It is like he is
studying the process and likes to chat about it. Whatever he is doing,
I'm okay with it because he is not crying. He helped push the syringe
on some of the flushes and overall was just pleasant to be around. It
sounds like we should expect more side effects from this drug than the
other one. We are trying to not be nervous about it, especially since
some of the side effects might not occur for 7-10 days. Right now,
Kyle is taking Zofran to stay ahead of the nausea. As much as we
would like to minimize his medicines, we are not willing to risk him
getting sick especially since he has a follow up with his surgeon on
Tuesday morning. We do not expect anything negative from that
appointment, but we are still praying it goes well.

I wanted to take a few minutes and write quickly about some amazing
things that all happened today that I just feel I need to share.
After being at the clinic for WAY too long, I was a little discouraged
and let's be honest, annoyed, but as I got home, I could not be
annoyed anymore... let me explain what happened:
-- One awesome thing from the clinic visit: Kyle is up to 36
pounds!!! This might not sound like something to celebrate, but I
think he gained a pound in a week! This is so significant to me,
because I have been quite concerned about his weight loss up to this
point. His appetite definitely returned this weekend, and it showed
on the scale. I was one happy mama!
-- Our neighbor across the street (who we didn't know very well
before Kyle got sick but who has done SO much for us in the past few
weeks) agreed to take Katie to her church's VBS and then let her go to
their house to play and swim after in order for Katie to avoid the
hospital visit. That in itself was great, but when our appointment
ran long, our neighbor kept insisting that she didn't care that Katie
was there. Instead of me picking up Katie around 2, Kevin left work
early and got her at 3:30, but when he got there, our neighbor
actually asked if Katie could stay because the kids were having so
much fun. What a blessing that Katie was not only safe (and
exhausted), but stayed literally ALL day with that family from
8am-4pm.
-- A group of friends of mine joined together and purchased some
house cleaning for us in order to relieve the burden of keeping
everything clean for Kyle. Well today happened to be the first day,
so despite being gone all day, the house was spotless and sanitized
for Kyle the moment he came home from his chemo. I did not anticipate
the relief I would feel over that.
-- When Kevin was at work today, his co-worker came up to him and
asked what time we would be around today because his wife was going to
bring us dinner. This was completely unexpected (especially because
they brought food last week as well). Even though we were not home to
plan or prepare dinner, someone provided a great unexpected meal that
we did not have to make.
-- Also when I got home, I saw we received a package for Kyle. It
was a package from a friend of my aunt. This friend does not know
Kyle and only knows of him from my aunt talking about Kyle. The
friend works at a children's hospital oncology unit and makes these
packages for the kids at her hospital. When she heard about Kyle, she
got our address and mailed him one! It was a Spiderman themed package
with a backpack, blanket, pajamas, coloring stuff, and other cool
Spiderman stuff. We were so blown away and Kyle kept saying "Wow this
cool Spiderman stuff!" It is incredible what strangers have done.

None of these people coordinated with each other. None of them knew
that today's chemo treatment would be so frustrating, and yet today
ended up being such a great day. We are so very blessed in the midst
of what has turned our lives upside down. We are so so grateful to
all of you for your prayers, love and support.
 
@NotAFarm that is wonderful news and all the goodwill is just amazing! I'm so glad to hear everything's going so well, now let's hope that side effects won't be a problem. The little guy's been so amazing through all this! Big hugs for him and all of you
