Quotes and Thoughts for the Day

Sumi, the new chicks are adorable...congratulations on your growing flock! Hope they all turn out to be pullets, lol.

A great story about being present...

“Two traveling monks reached a river where they met a young woman.
Wary of the current, she asked if they could carry her across.
One of the monks hesitated, but the other quickly picked her up onto his shoulders, transported her across the water, and put her down on the other bank. She thanked him and departed.
As the monks continued on their way, the one was brooding and preoccupied. Four hours later, unable to hold his silence, he spoke out.”Brother, our spiritual training teaches us to avoid any contact with women, but you picked that one up on your shoulders and carried her!”
“Brother,” the second monk replied, “I set her down on the other side four hours ago. Why are you still carrying her?”

I loved to see Kyle on that ride! I hate that any of our kids have to go through this stuff - to learn medical terms they shouldn't even be able to pronounce; to be made to tolerate stuff they don't understand; to watch other kids playing but not having the kind of day that will allow them to participate; to grow up too fast; to hurt in ways we can't fathom when the worst they should ever have is a skinned knee; to have to be brave before they even learn to spell brave - but I love that they do it with humor, courage, and trust.

Update from yesterday:

Hello everyone.
Well another chemo session has come and gone. Kyle did good today. He happened to look down right as the nurse was going to put the needle in his port, so he had a slight panic. I'm not sure he ever realized they stuck a needle in his port before. He is always watching a show or doing something else. Like I said, he got over it fast and let them put the needle in 30 seconds later.
We went to fireworks last night. Kyle did awesome walking around. We even did a few rides with him, and he loved them. We had a few moments of germ panic, but we carry lots of disinfecting stuff with us, so we think he will be alright.
Overall, he has had several good days. Next Monday, he will have a chest x-ray, ultra sound, doctor visit, and two chemo drugs. It will be a big appointment.
We hope everyone had a great 4th and has a wonderful week!

Big hugs for the little man!
