Quotes and Thoughts for the Day

Cynthia, A friend just had a double mastectomy. Another friend lost her Mom after a five year remission. A third friend’s Mom is a survivor. There is no breast cancer in my family but since October is breast cancer awareness month, I wanted to remember my friends and all the others who have faced or are facing this insidious disease. 🩷

Thank you for sharing. My Grandmother..my mother's mother, died of breast cancer. One of her daughters, my Aunt, got breast cancer. She beat it. She just turned 77. I had a scare. I found a large lump back in the 80's in my left breast. I was put under just enough to be numbed up real good. This dr. got so excited when he saw it, because it didn't look like cancer. It was the size of a man's thumb. He had to cut it in half to get it. He felt even better after having done so. He told me he couldn't promise it wasn't because we had to wait for results. He was so excited for me when he gave me the good news. He new my family history. October is also Spina Bifida month. Long story short, I had a lot to do with that. When the cancer society came along and also made October the awareness month, I won't fib, I was a bit disappointed. They needed a month, I just wished it was another one. It's big..I thought it would take away our awareness. Spina Bifida with Myelomeningocele in the 80's. was the number one birth defect in our country back then. Because of a 5 year trial/test, which I was a part of because I had a son with it, they found that the lack of folic acid was the biggest cause of it. Great news. It's now not the number one birth defect. (Congenital Heart Disease is) Women are taking their prenatal vitamins either as soon as they know they're going to try and get pregnant or as soon as they find out. The awareness worked, and they are still putting it out there for women to know how important that is. Pink is a great color for Cancer's awareness. Yellow is Spina Bifida's. :) 💛

A couple of photos of my son with Spina Bifida. He was soooo adorable. 😁 First photo of him as a newborn in Primary Children's Hospital. Second photo also..same Hospital..after having tubes placed at right angle for bladder/kidney. Right one. Last photo..recent. :) He's with his favorite star, Lindsay Sterling. He goes to most of her concerts here.
