Maybe some Dutch sayings are interesting too:
"Met de kippen op stok gaan"
You go to bed when the chicken go roosting / go to bed with the chickens
-> early sleeping,

"Op een zieke kip pikken ze allemaal"
They all peck an ill chicken
-> it's easy to attack the weaker in the group

"Het ei is gelegd"
The egg has been laid
-> a decision is made.

"Hij blijft op zijn eieren zitten"
He stays on his eggs
-> He doesn't spend his money.

Many many more where they come from. Our language has a lot of Egg/chicken related sayings

My favorite "real" quote:
"There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in" - Leonard Cohen

When you sit with a nice girl for two hours you think it's only a minute, but when you sit on a hot stove for a minute you think it's two hours. That's relativity.”

(Attributed to Einstein but there is evidence suggesting that it was a reporter paraphrasing him in a newspaper story circa 1927).
