R.I.P. Babs, My 7 year old ex battery hen.

I am devastated. I went up today to find that Babs has passed away. She has been ill for a couple of weeks and after higher protein food and some anti biotics she started to recover but quickly went back down hill over the past couple of days. She lived to a amazing age of 7 which is higher than the average age of what ex battery hens live (they usually only live until 4). She was a amazing character, she laid 4 eggs a week even at the age of 7 and she was all around lovely. I will never forget her out of all my hens and i hope she has a good time seeing all her old friends. R.I.P. Babs!

I'm so sorry Babs passed away. It's hard to lose a great hen, especially after the recent loss of 9 year old Rocky. You gave old Babs a great life - a real chicken life with the chance to stretch out in the sun and enjoy all the things that chickens deserve to enjoy.

Thanks! It wouldn't have been as bad if it was any hen but Babs, she was such a character and definitely a favourite!
