Oh my, I am so sorry. I remember how awful it was to put my first horse down--she was only 2 years old but was twin and had such bad OCD she was lame and in pain. I offer you my sympathy and my condolences.

I just came in and my husband is burying as I type.

Thank you all for your thoughts, I have never lost such a young horse. I tought I would have him for another 20 or 30 years. I just feel as if I failed him not being able to make him feel better. Again thank you all for the kind words both my husband and I are truely touched yet again by BYC members.

Im so very sorry for your loss, it does sound like you did the right thing. Keeping him suffering would have been much more of a hurtful thing. There's something so special about the relationship you develop with a horse, different than with a dog IMO. I will be thinking of your hubby and you, peace to you both.
