im absolutely speachless, i thought it was bad losing my one girl to a friends dog (just starting chickens now). does sound like you gave them a great life though, with lots of love and attention. if anything, you have inspired me to go the extra distance and secure my run further. my chicks will thank you! saw my first cougar less than a mile from my patch of dirt a few weeks ago.

by spring i hope to be producing bantam phoenix eggs, let me know if you want to try to incubate some.

I posted a video on Facebook, more sound than video though lol.. it's the sound that the adoptive mom makes when you look at her. She is sitting Fuzzy's eggs very seriously so hopefully it will work out.

My dad helped me replace the door on the coop that was ripped completely off the hinges. It REALLY locks now! One of my neighbors lost a dog to a Bobcat last night and they only live about 15 acres from me!

So have you decided it was a bob cat? would have to be something pretty strong to rip off the door. So sorry for your loss and yours too pippychicken

I don't know what it was, it was strong and could go over a 6ft fence carrying a very large duck and leave no feathers in the fence. I think there was more than one because of the amount of birds actually eaten on-site. I couldn't find any clear tracks either, but there have been a lot of coyote and Bobcat strikes around here I've discovered talking to the guy at the feed store.
