Understand completely. I cried over losing my favorite hen for a week and I never cry about much. It's been a month since I lost my fav hen and I still long to hold her. Like you said....If it would have been one of the others it wouldn't be so bad.

Thank you everyone, I knew that the folks here would understand. Its funny, I did not expect to get so attached to the chickens. I have had all sorts of pets in my life (parakeets, hamsters, hedgehog, etc.) and the chickens are right up there with the dog and cats in terms of being affectionate. Even my husband was teary-eyed when we found Pearl. Thanks again for the support, what a great community.

:aww So sorry to hear about Pearl.

We too have hawks overhead and it's always so concerning. I've lost 2 of my sweethearts to them. I sincerely feel for you.

Sorry for your loss. I lost 13 recently to a dog attack. It's always the favorites that get killed it seems. I'm sorry.

i cried over a $4 chicken.
once i had a chicken that always came when i called,was one of the nicest,and followed me around, suddenly turned up missing.the next day i found her feathers,please don't laugh at me, but i buried the feathers and kept one of the tail feathers. i still miss her.

. i know how you feel. i am sorry for your loss.
