One of my friends is part of an 8 person tandem cycling team participating in the Race Across America. Their are 4 pairs, they take turns sleeping, eating (not showering) and sprinting on their tandem bikes. My friend Kim Barker has only been riding a road bike seriously for less than six months! They are riding in support of Juvenile Diabetes research.


If you are on the course, hope you wave at all the riders.

California to Maryland in 6 days! YIKES

But looks like lots of back roads and right through the heart of the country.

The TS (Time Stations) give you an idea of where they will be and the second link, the pdf file shows the actual sections of the route and all the hills they climb!

Nowhere near me. Of course not! Who wants to purposely run when it is 98 degrees outside at 7 pm!

My friend and team have about 300 miles to go! They are in West Virginia now.

They did an average of 22+ miles on tandem bikes 24 hours a day!!

Amazing, I could not drive that far in a week!
