Yes - around 2-3 weeks they should start eating the pellets, but should still be nursing. (This is the part where it gets kind of expensive.) 
As for the price, it depends on where you live, but I'd say for mix-breed rabbits $40 is too much. I've seen show-quality bucks for $40. But I live in a small, rural town, and it's hard to sell rabbits for any high price. My very first litter, which was part Rex and part Satin, I believe I charged only $8 (which is the price we got both the parents for). The price many pet stores seem to sell at is about $20. Depending on the area you live in, I'd say $10-$25 would be good for a pet rabbit.
