My friend got some local guys number for me because he said he used to raise rabbits and wants to unload his cages because he doesn't do it anymore. Would a rabbit cage make a good coop for bantams? I think the floors are wire and I know that isn't good for chickie feet. I just wonder if I should snag some or not, I don't want to waste my time.

I keep some on hand to use when I get new birds, to put a sick bird in for a while to put started chicks in when I am read to sell the extras.
I never leave anyone in them 24/7 365 days a year. BUT they do come in handy if you have the extra space.
I MADE MINE.

I have a very large 6'x3' one that I use as a grow off pen. I put a piece of plywood on one end for them to get off the wire and in the winter time I lay the bottom with hay. You could just put in a plywood floor and keep shaving or what ever you use in it for easy cleaning.

I'm using 2 older hutches that we don't use, to make a quarantine cage. I'm removing old wood and replacing it with recycled lumber from a friend. Here's a pic of the work in progress (click on it)...

I'll use the smaller hutch (on the right) as a coop, the longer one as a "run". We have a sheet of plywood that has been sitting, collecting dust for years, which will become the floor of both hutches.

I'd grab those hutches up, if I were you!
