Rabbit sharing a home with chickens?

My grandmother seems to think I can keep my rabbit in the same coop as my chickens... I worry they might get her sick. (They don't pick on the dogs so I doubt they would harm her physically). I feel like she would get salmonella. Anyone know whether this is possible or have done it? I'm just a bit too skeptical

You mean running loose in the chicken coop with the chickens? I don't think that is a good idea, but that's me. Ask bunnylady. She can help you I'm sure.

My rabbits, who are a French Lop and Flemish Giant, actually run around the yard with the chickens, they go in the chicken coop and do not bother them.
I am not sure I would have them together 24/7, but during the day it should be fine.
Also you could put a cage in the coop so that the chickens would the used to the rabbit

It would be a lot of work keeping the rabbits fur clean from chicken poop... Unless you kept it clean all the time. My chickens at least LOVE my rabbit's food so that also could be a problem...:idunno

I currently keep my two Flemish in with the chickens in a giant pen like 500 plus sq ft. No issues with the buns in the poop but my buck loves chicken food so he's gaining weight....so I've decided to segregate them in the same coop and they each have their own run....
