I have some sprouted grains going for my chooks, but they're sick and not eating much so I thought I'd give the wheat to my buns. Will they eat the seed/root portion as well, or do I just let them munch the grass. Right now the sprouted growth is about 2"

i give seed, root and grass (all) of it to my rabbits. WARNING! do not give it to rabbits w/any mold growing, mold kills rabbits.

this is a better pick of miss Daphne. Someone was just giving her away because they didn't want her any more. I actually raise and breed rabbits like lion. Rex and new Zealand. But this girl stays in my house and runs around when my dog is outside or the baby gate is up

Looks like a Sable rex to me, very pretty

Does she have Rex fur or normal fur? Could be a purebred American Sable, a Sable Rex, or a mix that happens to have a Sable color.

Thanks! I will give it a good check before feeding to them. I am in Denver CO, so low humidity helps a lot. But it is always possible.

Daphne has the ruby red tent in her eyes and soft fur. She fits the true American sable. She is also about 8 lbs right now. She was under weight when I got her. She's about 9 months old and just as sweet as can be.

If she has fur like your Rex, then she is probably a Sable Rex (relatively rare) or Rex mix with Sable fur. Purebred American Sables have rollback fur, which is more like the fur you would find on a Californian or New Zealand than Rex fur.

The red tint to the eye occurs in any rabbit with the siamese shading, regardless of breed. I don't know why it even gets mentioned, since it always happens; maybe to say, "don't worry, it's normal in this color?"

Daphne's coat is very clearly normal, not Rex.

her fur is like that of my full Rex. Its not like my new Zealand

This is Rex fur

This is an American Sable - normal coat. Sables have a somewhat shorter, rollback coat, which is a little bit different than the flyback coat of the New Zealand.
