I want to get my sons into 4h. Their young so the only animals they can do is rabbits or chickens. I don't have the breeds they allow so I figured we would try rabbits. I already have 2 Dutch rabbits. Their sisters and I saved them. Their not the friendliest to the kids. A little scared. I was planning on getting California rabbits for meat pens. But I have some questions. 1. His big does the hutch be? 2.Do they need space to run? 3. Can I place more than 1 rabbit in each hutch? Do they need nest boxes?

1. 36x30 is suggested as a minimum size starting point for a cage.
2. Above size suggestion includes enough space for a bit of exercise.
3. Not recommended. If breeding bring the doe to the bucks cage for service and remove when completed.
4. Usually you would put nest boxes in around day 27 for a doe that is due for her to make her nest. (Gestation is ~31 days.)
