There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Great news you can bring some chickens into your son's life!

Before investing a substantial sum of money on a pre-fab coop, so a search on the Urban Chicken Coop Company to see what other BYC members have shared. It's wise to be leery of any of the coop manufacturers claims about quality, number of birds suitable, durability, etc.

You could check out the coops section and see how other members have made their coops, some need no real carpentry skills.
