Raccoon Attack :(

Poor thing. The punctures are over her ears, and hopefully, she can still hear. Her eyes look a little gooey in the photos, so if that is the case, you can clean them with some saline or use the vetericyn to wipe them off. Will she sip water if you hold a small container up to her beak. Tuna cans or similar work well for offering up food or water. They sometimes will take a lot of water if you mix it with some layer feed, cooked egg, canned cat food, or tuna.

If you want to upload your video to YouTube and post a link here, that is the easiest way.

I only worry about laws that juries would actually convict on. No one here is going to convict someone for protecting a flock of chickens provided you aren't doing something that threatens the safety of the public. I will worry about laws that make sense regardless of what a jury will do. I won't relocate a Raccoon (even if it was legal) because they are highly likely to spread rabies. Do what you feel is best, if you feel going by the law is best then do it. We all have our own lives and values to live by.
Sometimes I think these laws were set up so you are forced to hire a professional who paid a huge fee to get a license and that money goes towards either a lobbyist or state entity who pushed for such laws. I don't know how true that is because I haven't researched the laws where you live and how the came to be. It's just my cynical side coming through.
Believe me when I tell you that I 100 PERCENT agree with everything you just said. I told my husband that I want to sit out on our back porch with a shot gun tonight and take care of the threat. BUT, considering the fact that my husband is a Police Chief, I have no choice but to figure out another solution. I don't think the headlines of "Police Chief thinks he's above the law" in our local paper would look too good for him... LOL... We already have a "Rat Zapper" out by the pen. I'm looking to see if they make one big enough for raccoon's... sorry if that makes anyone upset.

I just went and checked on her and she's still in the same position. She's taking the water well from the bulb syringe. I have a shallow dish of water in the crate with her, but I don't think she can see to find it honestly. :(. I just put neosporin on both of her wounds. While doing so, I found a flap wound on her back that has already closed. I applied Neosporin that area as well. I've been wiping her eyes with saline each time I check on her. They're both a bit more swollen this afternoon. I told my husband if I lose this chicken, I don't want anymore. This is too hard emotionally just knowing she's in pain. Thank you for your advice and time today. I appreciate it..

If I was a police chief or married to one or just an officer or employee of the police department (or prosecutors office etc) I would 100% abide by the law at all times just for the sake of not being corrupted in any way unless its a law requiring me to do something immoral.
