raccoon attack

If you have any Manuka honey, or can find any, I would highly recommend applying that to any cuts, scratches or sore areas of the chicken. Obviously it is completely safe if the hen eats it, which is why it is my first choice to use for any injuries.
Natural antibacterial properties. Natural Healing properties.
If no Manuka is available try and find a local honey that is unpasturized. If it is pasturized then all the benefical enzymes etc will have been rendered inactive.
Good luck.

Also - did you actually see the "raccoon"?
As I see many posts accusing Raccoons of attacking hens - with ZERO evidence of raccoons being the culprits.
I have seen raccoons in my backyard and they have never shown any interest in the chickens. I think it all depends on the time of the year and the concentration of Coon's in any given area. (I.e lots of coons would mean lots of competition amongst the coons for food sources, or winter would mean very little food)
I have however had a dog attack, kill and remove a hen from our backyard.

thks!!!! right now since my husband is on the road the only thing im able to use on her is some sort of spray..she will not let me hold her to do any kinds of other stuff..like rubbing the areas..but when he comes back home i will try the honey..i will try anything...i have iodine( the kind they rub on pts for sterilization before a procedure) i got from work(i work at a hospital) it says to dilute it with water and spray on..so im gonna do that when i get home...

Iodine is a great idea and possibly Dettol undiluted. To help kill any germs.
Once treated with that you could then apply the honey - as it will help her heal faster. Ask any beekeeper.

i have honey...my husbands dad was a beekeeper and i have some from him..its in my husbands truck though so ill have to wait...but i know its just straight honey..so it should be good...thanks soo much for all the help....:) but for now i will do all of the above to make my little scruffy feel better...

sorry this post took so long to update....
my scruffy is living and well!!! she isnt back to normal mentally and i dont think she ever will...she is very scarce...we sectioned off part of our one side of our barn and have her in there...even when i open the door and lean in to feed her she runs from me like im going to hurt her...but she is even getting better with that..sometimes ill pick her up just so she knows im not going to hurt her n i make sure to talk to her alot..i tell her she is such a pretty girl..lol....but physically she is alll better...i put betadyne all over her so that no bugs would pick at her and was giving her gatorade, which she loved...lol...we went the other day and bought some silky chicks and put them in with her to see if she would mother them and that would keep her occupied and she just pecked at them really bad and plus the chicks were running through the slats of the barn...which is made alot of pallets...so now we have them up at the house in the rabbit hutch we have...

THANKS FOR EVERYONES HELP!!!
