Raccoons are becoming a daily annoyance. So far it's only been an annoyance and not a tragedy. They are getting into my feed and shredding everything. They have gotten into my coop once but my Roo must have scared him away. He was a little tussled up but fine, and I fixed the entry point.

I've got a feral cat trap, will that work? What's the best bait?

Redo your coop and run, and feed storage, so it's all predator proof. Then, also you can try trapping your current visitor(s), only if you will then shoot them!
Larger live traps, with marshmallows or cat food, almost anything, will work. Have the bait attached so it can't be dislodged, and tie the trap down, or put a very heavy weight, like a concrete block, on top so it can't be tipped over.
The Duke traps are good for raccoons too.

This is only my opinion but I think racoons are out of control ever since a lot of folks quit hunting them for their pelts years ago . If you think about the impact on ground nesting birds alone they are devastating . For example wood cocks , grouse ,turkey and some song birds such as the veery thrush just to name a few . I hope you get the culprit . Good luck .

Marshmallows work the best as bait for coons.

If you are not willing to dispose of the animal or find a way to do it then don't bother. Many larger towns will have a list of trappers that will come out and trap the animal for you.

Do you have any recommendations for feed storage?

Metal trash can is easiest to source.

Personally I use a steel 55 gallon drum with a removable lid but I can get them pretty easy.
I'll just got me a galvanized can with lid...will that be enough to keep them out of it...as well as mice?
