I don't think so. I think the previous record was year or two ago something like just over $1M USD in Taiwan, and when that happened it was like WAY over the prior record. The people from Taiwan and China are paying astronomical amounts at auction for proven Belgian race winners. It's almost comical. I see why it is causing controversy though.
