Racist Cockerel???

We have a mixed flock and one Silver Laced Wyandotte Cockerel. He is passive and calm with humans and loves his Silver Laced girls and Australorp girls ( who are black ) but he hates our hybrid brown hens!!!! He will mate with them, but then chases them away and has even ripped the comb half off one brown hen. He was introduced to the brown hens, who were our original flock! Does anyone have this problem or know why?

If he ripped the comb off a hen he would be put down if he were my rooster.

I had a very bad SLW rooster years back. I won't ever have Wyandottes again because I am still traumatized.

Yes, I've read that Wyandotte roos can be really mean at times.

Do not put up with a rooster that is mean to the hens. You are responsible to keep them all safe and no one needs a mean roo. Especially if you are hatching eggs from this bird. He will pass on this mean gene to his offspring. Send him to the stew pot.
