Hey Ivan3!

Right you were! We live trapped by the LOCKED door of the coop and caught a young coon - you know your predators! THANKS! Sad part is find one small coon and there must be 5 more. So we will continue putting out the live trap until no more come in for a visit. (we used marshmallows and dog food)

Good job! Just keep the trap set at night. Put a couple of 1"x1"s/2"x2"'s under it (running lengthwise on either side) this keeps the pred from digging under the trap and making a mess. It also helps to place at least a 20lb. paver on top (keeps the smarts ones from tipping it over to get the bait). Often times folks catch a pred and, believing it is all `peaceable kingdom' again, drop their guard, then they post here...

thanks for the extra tips - last night the bait was eaten out of the trap and not tripped either too small an animal or the trap not set light enough. Meanwhile the girls want to nest in the tree by their pen - they don't trust the pen anymore. (I still take them out of the tree every night and lock them up securely in their pen)
