I did not mean to say hovabators are not any good. Every chick I have hatched at home here came out of one, a still air 1602n no fan, and recently no turner. I find I get more chicks into the world by just putting in more eggs and turning by hand and taking my chances. I work crazy hours and do not heat my house, which results in temp swings, spikes, cooler eggs around the outside of the incubator, warmer just under the heat element, and cooler to the very inside. I stir those eggs around several times a day by washing my hands and just gently sliding my hand around the tops of the eggs, rolling them and slowly scooping the outer eggs to the inside, pulling the back eggs to the front, spreading the inner circle eggs around and mixing them up evenly. The results are mixed, as would be expected. Humidity runs high, low and in between.
So... if I had that incubator in an evenly heated room, used my turners and kept a better eye on humidity, I'm sure I would be in here raving about what great incubators they are. WOOT! Sorry if I conveyed they are not. They are good. It is I who am bad. LOL
