Rain and chickens??

Mine love thunderstorms. They live in a covered all in one coop with run. At the first sign of a storm, they line up the perimeters of their run despite getting wet. Finally figured out why, 'cause the rain runs bugs into their area and they enjoy wet "happy meals".

My chickens love the rain, too. I think they like scratching in the mud for worms. One of our easter eggers is crazy about the water hitting the ground. She figured out how to rock the hanging waterer and drained all the water out in less than an hour. Now we use a brite tap waterer or the hens would thirst to death!

I am outside of Portland and actually tried to get mine under a roof out of all the rain we've had, but they would have none of that and kept searching for new treats.
It was sad to watch how they looked at certain times but they knew when to go for cover and not a single issue with them.

I live in also live in Florida and mine seem to love the rain. That last big rain we had they played out in the rain so much I they were making me worry if they were going to drown. My flock free ranges all day so they have become use the the all kinds of weather.

I live in Florida and all of my girls love the rain!!!! When it gets really heavy they run under my porch or go to their coop but generally they run around the yard like little kids. lol

Our winters here is rain, lots of it. We have a covered area they like to go under when it rains, especially if it rains hard. They will go out into the rain. I also had a silky that would hang out in the rain too and was fine. It hailed here a few days ago and the chickens were eating it until it hailed really hard and they took cover.
