I moved down to KY about two years ago - partly because I despise winter.

It has been so hot lately, I've been dreaming of a white - anything...

snow - never thought snow would sound good to me.

But, it is raining today (finally!!) and it's one of those really nice rains - lightly coming down no major wind or damage. Even the chickens are out enjoying it. Rain will do me for now.

so, am I losing my mind day dreaming about snowy days? Maybe

I am ready for fall to be here, though. Colors changing in the leaves, cooler days, much cooler nights....

Maybe I just need a day off (snowy days make me think staying inside drinking hot cocoa and reading) or maybe I just miss my kids (got two of them still up in Michigan - one moved back, the other never left).

snow wouldn't be so bad, I guess (if it didn't last 5 months of the year).

I just got in from mowing my grass..
Even though its over cast I still am dreaming of fall/early winter.
I dont like the bitter cold. I do like the not breaking a sweat while doing yard work though

Meri, I couldn't stand the heat down there - and I enjoy the winter. You'll never hear me complain about it being too cold, or about the snow. It always comes before my favorite season, Spring

I don't think you are losing your mind! Around this time of year, I always start thinking of the cooler months as well. DH hates it when daylight savings time ends but I look at the winter as a time of rest and rejuvenation. I think the hot/dry/humid of the summer makes you appreciate the cold/snow of winter all the more!!

I don't really hate snow - I mostly didn't like the bitter cold that would last (and last and last...)

"windchill" is not a friendly word

(although I am beginning to be weary of "heat index" also

I love snow for Christmas (which usually didn't happen up north, it would hold off until New Years, then we'd get an ice storm before the snow piled on top of it

) Oh, but we often had sleet for Halloween

I am wondering if the weird weather this summer means that we'll have more snow down here this winter. We've had more rain this summer than usual, and it was cold, then hot, then cold again...

Usually, when it does snow enough to stick (usually about two or three inches of it) it is melted off by noon. I like being able to work outside comfortably all winter, though. Our first winter here we got more done than the first summer (because we moved here when it was 105 degrees -- without the heat index!!).

Maybe I'm just in a Holiday Time mood - Fall does sound wonderful to me, though right now.....

I prefer the cold. I can always add more layers of clothing, or throw an extra log or two into the woodstoves. But when I'm walking around my property (with little to no clothing) in the heat there is nothing more I can do to stay cool.

I'd much rather layer on some clothes and load up the woodstove than swelter in the heat! I have a good friend who's originally from Garland, Texas, and she just returned today from a two week visit back home. How she laughed at me when I pointed out that she had returned in time for the "heatwave" - we had three days in a row of high 90's- more than enough to make any true Yankee hide out in the basement with jugs of icewater. It was such a joy to be with her when she saw her first snowfall. I showed her how to make snow angels and bought her a "snowman" kit. And then we had a pretty mild winter! Still, it's Autumn that's the best time of all. There's the foliage, and Deerfield Fair, and that wonderful snap in the air, and preparing projects to do in the cold, quiet days of Winter.
Shoot, you can keep the summer!

Its not the snow i hate, its the grey, dreary days that seem to never end.
