Hello,
I had my husband build a water system for my chickens using a rain barrel, PVC's with turn off valves and chicken cups. We had it working, but some of the chicken cups leaked. We tried adding new ones on, but they still leak too. Should the PVC pipe angle up? It's been the last one leaking. Also, what height would work best and spacing of the cups? They didn't come with directions. Also, he didn't make the holes straight on the pipe, some are lower than others which makes some of the cups not level. We're going on vacation for Christmas and would like this working.
Thanks for your help!

Are they leaking through the valve in the cups or around the joint between the cups and the pipe? If they're leaking through the valves you probably have your barrel too high, If they're leaking through the joint you need to use sealer tape. Hope this helps.

Thanks ! They are leaking through the valves. We have taped the part that screws into the pipe. The barrel is 2 cinder blocks high.

Forgot to mention in my initial reply, before lowering try flushing the cups as there may be debris in the valves.

The problem is likely debris. They have to be back flushed and a rainwater system will always create problems with nipples and drinker cups because of debris. The water has to be extremely clear unless you have a robust filtration system.

Hi,
It isn't debris. It is all clean. We just set it up.
Thanks.
There could still be debris in the system, from drilling holes.
Can you shut off the feed from barrel?
So you can empty pipe and remove cup to disassemble valve to make sure nothing is stuck in there....
.......or deformed, could be a defective part, had that happen with Horizontal Nipples.
