okay, I know this is a stupid question, but i have to ask. I will be turning my babies loose this weekend to the the run and coop. It is supposed to rain in the early part of the week, will the chicks have sense enough to get into the coop and out of the rain?

Thanks, didnt want the little boogers to get sick or worse

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

My first set of chicks were NOT smart enough to run into the coop. LOL The very week I got them out of the house for good, one day it started to lightly rain. I looked outside from the window here in the house, where I could see the coop and gardens they hung out in, and the chicks are panicking, running all over the place screaming!! LOL It was rather hilarious, but of course, Mommy (me) came to the rescue and got them all into the coop before the heavy rain started.

After this first episode, they wised up and figured it out themselves.

Enjoy your chicks and welcome to our flock!

Glad you joined us! Some chickens will take shelter while others won't. Best keep an eye out and see what they do when the rain starts.

Welcome to BYC! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

My chicks did basically what Two Crow's did. They didn't go into the coop, they ran around and peeped. But all i had to do was step into the coop, call them and they learned. (Mommy taught them! LOL)

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! X4, some of them don't seem to be able to figure out to go in the coop if they get scared.
