I went to the feed store last week and bought 8 pullets from a "Rainbow Layers" group. I asked if these are EE's and was told, "No, they are called rainbow layers because they are an assortment of different kinds and you don't know what you're getting".
They looked like 5 black australorps, 2 RIR, and 1 mystery chick. I don't really care what they are but I thought the hatcheries labeled EE's as Rainbow Layers or am I mistaken?

Hatcheries label EEs as EEs, Araucanas, or Ameraucanas/Americanas.

"rainbow layers" are usually a random assortment of breeds that lay brown, white, green, or blue eggs and you never know what you'll get. The Feed store clerk was correct.
