rainbow layers

Just wondering if I understand what rainbow layers are. I went to my local farm store where they had a tank of chicks marked as rainbow layers. Are they considered Easter eggers or does the hatchery put 3 or 4 breeds all together to give an assortment of egg colors?

Agreed; and often several shades of brown including the chocolate eggs of breeds like Marans or Welsummers.

This makes more sense than the replies I received on fb. They also had a tub marked ameracauna, which I assumed those were 'Easter eggers' and the rainbow bin I had a chance of picking whatever breed they put in there. Fingers crossed for a welsummer. They should be about 4 days old as of now.
