Rainy Days

We are on day 6 of rain and the girls are wishing they had webbed feet!

We open the pop door and let them decide. More often than not they all go out, usually to hang out under the coop or under the eaves ... just looking out watching the rain.

They used to rush out to snag worms that came up in the rain but that novelty has worn off.

I can't speak for them but I am just glad it's rain and not SNOW!

If you could keep chickens in the rain, then I couldn't keep chickens. We get a lot of rain here in the PNW of the US. They will often huddle under the coop, but they have no problems with rain. My white Silkie does look rather bedraggled after awhile, and so does the white frizzle.

I live in Forks, WA. . . . We get over 100 inches of rain a year, and my hens/cocks are all free range, sooo. . . . No, the rain doesn't kill them. Their first few rainstorms they stay out of, but after that they learn through it and just go on with life, soaking wet.
