Raised bed lumber..??..

Has anyone used rough cut hemlock lumber for raised beds?

Or galvanized tin?

I have just used Cedar landscape timbers for a two tier height bed. Hopefully some others can chime in on the subject.

I have no idea how well untreated Hemlock would hold up. Cedar holds up very well as does treated timbers.

Have you ever heard of treated lumber bein bad for soil thats why ive only thought of rough cut but not really sure of it? I would go cedar but boy o boy that ant cheap.

I use treated lumber and railroad ties everywhere and have not seen any evidence of harm.

If you think cedar is expensive, just add up how often you have to replace the non-treated or non cedar wood as it rots away.
