raised chicken coop question

We have a 6x8’ coop raised up approx 2.5’ off the ground. We decided to take into account pushing a wheel barrow up to and under the lip of the deck we built for the people door. This way we could shovel out the bedding from the coop into the waiting wheel barrow and take it wherever we wanted. So, the deck is about 4’ long before the stairs are attached. The coop and decking provided much needed shade last summer. We are in the process of adding a metal roof over the whole run. Also, coop is very dry since it is elevated!

Thank you. I want to plan on being able to put my wheel barrow under the clean out door too!

How High off the ground should you build your coop so the chickens can get shade under it?
18". 24"?
If you are using below the coop for a shade area you will want it to be high enough so you will be able to retrieve any bird, or item, that is under the coop. A sick bird always seems to gravitate to the areas it thinks it will be safe (out of reach).
