Hello All,

I have a raised coop with a ramp for the hens to get in and out. However, I've noticed that my hennies just jump right in while the marmots, squirrels, and chipmunks use the ramp! The coop is probably about two feet from the ground. Does anyone know if the vermin will still be able to get in if I take the ramp away? I don't want to keep feeding the little buggers, and I don't want them stealing the eggs. Seems like taking the ramp away would be the easiest solution, but I don't want to disassemble if it won't do the trick.

Thanks for any help!

I know squirrels can climb pretty easily. Not sure about the others.

The benefit of having it raised is that you don't have a dry nesting spot right under the coop for the vermin. Unfortunately, it does nothing to keep them from wandering in from elsewhere. Barn cats, OTOH...
