I just happen to have my reading glasses on when my porcelain D ‘uccle jumped on my lap to say hello. I was shocked to see this lesion on her beak. If I don’t have my glasses on, I wouldn’t have seen it and it could have been there for sometime. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? I hope it’s nothing serious and she’s such a sweetheart. she is eight months old . I’d appreciate any advice. Thank you.

It is possible that she has injured the comb on chickenwire or a feeder, but fowl pox, a virus from mosquitoes might be a possibility. If you see any other scabs develop post a picture. Edited to say, looking again at the first picture, I am pretty sure that it is a comb injury. I would just watch it.

It looks like she has been digging in the dirt and got some in her nostrils. . Although, you may see something in real life and I only see a picture.

Oh, I hope you’re right that it might be an injury. I will be looking for new scabs. Of course unfortunately, we do have more than our share of mosquitoes in Florida. I’ll keep an eye on her and post pictures, Hopefully of it healing! Thanks so much
