Last year i got rid of my collection of waterfowl due to the constant problems of vermon. I know some breeders raise mandarin, wood duck and calls/mallards in raised pens - wire bottomed pens. Can this be used for larger waterfowl like Barnacle or Cackler geese? I know it would have to be substantially larger to accomidate larger birds... but could this be done?

perhaps you could make wire bottom pens, but then bury the bottom of it under the ground? i would think the weight of those birds would put a hurting on their feet walking on wire 24/7, but I've never tried it past 3 months old. I've gotten Great Pyrenees as guardian dogs and since have lost nothing to coons etc..... and they are very good with my critters.
