Raising 400 chicks

Update! I don't have pictures at the moment, I'll have to get some more soon.
Those few chickens with the fuzzy backs filled in fine, but I did make a couple of chicken vests for a couple of runts that were definitely getting picked at.
The males are also becoming a lot more obvious now, so if anybody in Utah wants a rooster I have quite a few. :p

They should all start laying by the end of February to early March, and i'm way excited to see the rainbow of colors we get.

We mixed in a few unwanted adults from next door, so now we've got some great layers setting an example for the younger ones by laying in the boxes. We also got a great big rooster, who looks like a silver-laced wyandotte. He's gorgeous, and also a bit of a wimp 🤣 I watched a tiny leghorn come up and try to steal food from him and she would NOT back off.

I'll take pictures of the updated roosts and watering system this weekend. But mostly of the chickens.

Un-chicken related: I'm going to have a lot less responsibility in this operation, and I'm now more of an employee rather than a co-worker. I went back to in-person school and realized that it was too much on my plate. I'm still going to be a part though, so I can update still if anybody even cares lol.

May I ask, what does one do with around 400 chicks?
Just some friendly curiosity!

And Cookie is such a beautiful Brahma!
Well, I mostly have polite conversations with them as I feed them. 😁
I also try not to trip over them lol. They swarm your feet when you feed them in the mornings. Admiring them is also something one can do, since there are so many different looking chickens. Pretty little dinosaurs 😆

Here’s the older rooster we just added. I didn’t ask but he looks like a silver-laced Wyandotte.
