I didn't read all the comments, so forgive me if I missed something. The local place I get my meat birds from says 10% mortality rate (usually the first couple days of course) is about par for the course. 8 out of 400 is fantastic, IMO.
We ended up with about 25, they started to smother each other when we moved them to the new tunnel. Somehow they managed to get on top of it it at one point, so I think they have their ways. The older ones do prefer the middle boxes though.thanks for showing your birds. They look great. Can I a would many use the very top egg laying boxes? I was just looking at them thinking they look taller than me with hardly any perch space to hop up. I know they are still too young now and those look like they've been in use a while I've just never seen them that tall before.
