Raising 8 Rhode Island Reds - eek!

Congratulations, how exciting! I have 6 Rhode Island Reds that I got at the end of April. Looking forward to my first egg as well, although I have a little bit longer to go yet.

The way mine are going you may beat me getting them all to lay before me. LOL Mine don't want to work at giving me any eggs. They are freeloaders still. They will be 21 weeks Monday.

Congrats on your first Egg Cheryl I also have RIR but no eggs yet and we also got ours the 2nd of April.
Thanks so much. It took my ladies 21 weeks until the first egg appeared. Now I have two laying every day for the last two days. Won't be long until I'll have lots of eggs. You'll see your first ones in the next couple of weeks.

Welcome to BYC! We have two RIRs and absolutely love them. They are curious, intelligent, funny, and egg-laying machines. They don't necessarily like when I pet or hold them, but they race to see me whenever I'm down in the coop area and follow me all around. Congratulations on your first egg!
