Raising a rooster to be a full-time companion animal!

Hey everyone! New to the forum... wasn't sure where to post this...

I've been raising chickens (for eggs and love only, not for meat) for two years now... They're very sweet and affectionate, but they'd rather hang out with the flock than hang out with me for too long! I had one chicken (buff orpington) that was my best buddy but she died when a cat broke into the coop.. broke my heart.
They're a very close group... I'm getting a new batch of chickens and ordered a Buff Orpington rooster-- I wanna spoil him rotten and have him as close to me as a dog or cat. Of course, he'd have full access to the outdoors and all that.

It's been my dream to have a pet rooster that would be super close to me (ever since I was in kindergarten). It may sound silly, I know.
ANYWAY... the rooster comes on the 26th (day old) and I just want some tips on how to make this bond happen! :D
Also someday I'd love to take him for walks around my neighborhood (I live in the country and it's very quiet around here)

thank you!
I know this an old thread but I thought I'd add a little here for future reference:

I have 3 roosters, and all of mine are very sweet, lovable and huggable birds. Quite amusing too! My boys (once I realized they were boys) were constantly handled and given love. We showed the boys that we respected them, but the moment those hormones kicked in, they also learned who was boss. My 11wk old amererucana had tried biting me once or twice, and me grabbing at his neck saddle feathers and holding on until he "bowed" quickly put that to a stop without either party being hurt. My two maran boys are shyer than their counterpart as I didn't spend as much time with them early on (I thought they were hens... until they began crowing lol) But neither has ever tried biting me. All three are more than willing to be held, will fall asleep on my lap if given the opportunity and enjoy the occasional treat of roaming the house and terrorizing the cats. In summery, from my (limited) experience, getting roos is a gamble as you never know the animal's personality. I have a friend who hatched her own chicks and had a nasty ankle biter from day one! I'm lucky that my boys all have more mild personalities than hers did, but in general, you can never go wrong by showing lots of love while maintaining the fact that you are alpha #1. Hope this helps 😅
