Raising and caring for ducklings

Guessing you need the knowledge because you have gotten or are getting ducks? Welcome, you have come to the right place. I have six ducks (3 Blue Swedish and 3 Khaki Campbells) within my mixed flocks of chickens, ducks and geese. All are healthy, happy and safe in no small part to what I have learned here on BYC and the willingness of it's members to share their knowledge and stories with me/us.

Yes I'm going to be getting some!!. I always though my husband hated ducks and geese. They spend all year chasing them away from the 3 ponds on our farm... But he said I could get them to go with my little "homesteading project"...I currently have 3 adult rabbits (5 new babies),5 chickens (3 chicks) and my husband has 30 natural beef cattle.

My flock is made of 25 chickens, 3 Toulouse geese and the 6 ducks. My brother-in-law raises miniature Longhorn cattle and I am in line for a couple of those as well as a pair of pygmy goats. So I can appreciate your efforts toward a "homesteading project". Our efforts are directed toward a sustainable/working farm and it can be a challenge, especially because we are both "city slickers" that retired and bought the farm. Best of luck to you, read what you find here on BYC, be patient in waiting for replies and Google your self silly...most of what you find will be useful and/or essential to your efforts, the rest should be taken with a grain of salt but usually points you in the right direction.

@jdywntr thank you for those basics they helped a lot. Do you think you can give me a timeline for after the two first weeks.? Like when to change them to outside and when ot is ok to do this and that. Mine are growing so fast and o feel like their brooder is already too small for them...I was also wondering if you had any tips on building a home for them in the backyard? Thank you, anything helps
