Hi! I'm new to this site--looks like a very helpful one! I have a question already--I have 4 baby chicks, 2 weeks old now, and also 1 lonely turkey chick, also 2 weeks old. We had gotten 2 turkeys but one died shortly after we brought them home, and can't find anyone selling turkeys so she'll be our one and only. Right now, she is separated from the chickens in their brooder by wire because they are eating different food. They all get along I know because I daily put them together when I clean the brooder. My question is when they are old enough to go outside will they be able to hang out together in our very large chicken yard? Has anyone ever had turkeys and chickens together?

! Pleased you joined us! I know some folks that raise them together - others don't. The biggest concern seems to be a disease called blackhead that turkeys contract from chickens. You might type 'blackhead' into the BYC search bar and see what you think. Good luck to you!
