https://www.backyardchickens.com/forums/emergencies-diseases-injuries-and-cures.10/I apologize if this is not the appropriate area. I did try to search for the information elsewhere. I have one of my hens who is staying in the coop whenever I let them out to do as they please. She stays in the coop, in a corner under the coop just sitting there. If myself or my son force the issue we can get her out of the coop where she walks around normal. She's not eating as much. I see no discharge from her eyes, maybe a slight raspiness to any sounds she makes. I am so new to this, I feel a little guilty like I should have learned more but then everybody starts at zero right? I honestly can't see or hear anything that is alarming to me, but what I don't know would fill a library. So, any advice? Also, I live in Poteet Texas. It is a really rural area, we don't even have an internet provider here, I used Starlink. I have called all morning to try to find a veterinarian. I am literally amazed being in this area to have no one have any clue is to how I can find one. I don't know what to do.
Do you have a cockerel or rooster that might be harassing her? Is there any possibility that she is broody?I apologize if this is not the appropriate area. Hello, we have no rooster, all hens. I finally found a veterinarian near me but unfortunately she died before I could take her. She wouldn't eat or drink. My son tried to give her nutrition through a syringe like thing. It was sad.Do you have a cockerel or rooster that might be harassing her? Is there any possibility that she is broody?
I have noticed more feathers in the coop, but none of them seem to be losing anything significant.Take a close look at her feathers. Do you see any pin feather coming in? Are there a lot of feathers in the area where she is sitting. My east Texas chickens have started molting earlier than usual this year.
