I have three chickens I got last September when they were a little older than a year and I got 15 baby chicks a little over a month ago and I need some more advice on raising chickens. Such as, how to tell if my chicks are roosters.

Welcome to BYC!

Congrats on your new chicks! What breeds are you already keeping?

You can post pics of your suspected roo's in our What Gender section here on BYC for some good ID....

But but now you should start to see some distinguishing things about potential roos....thick tree trunk legs compared to the pullets, a cockerels comb should be much larger than the others and turning red along with his wattles, he may even be showing signs of more aggression than the others. In another month, he may be even practicing the crow!

Good luck with your babies and if you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! X2 on posting pics in the What Breed Or Gender Is This forum for help with figuring out what your chicks are. They are a little young yet to be sure, but you may start seeing some of the tell tale signs of boys already, there is a nice article in the Learning Center with pictures that also might help you figure it out https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/is-my-chicken-a-pullet-hen-or-a-cockerel-cock

if you bought red sex link chicks from the feed store - they should be pullets. Do they all look the same in color as well as body type?
