Raising chicks for meat?

"Cull" means, to remove from the flock. Kill, give away, sell, move to egg laying pen.... whatever.

Cornish X Rocks are the usual meat birds, and what is sold in supermarkets. You can't breed them, really; you must buy the chicks. There are other choices: Dark Cornish, or other colors of large fowl Cornish; Colored Rangers (JM Hatchery;) and any dual purpose heavy breed such as RIR, NH Red, Barred Rock, Burr Orpington, etc. are also options.

A few generations ago, the dual purpose breeds were routinely kept for eggs and meat, before Cornish X became available. They are delicious.
