Hi. I'm back to chickens after several years; I've got 5 girls and am finishing up the coop in preparation for them. I decided to get a few hens because they're a great learning experience for children; my grands come to my house every week to see them, and several of the neighborhood kids show up too. I've loved the info on this site; every day brings a new question and every search yields a new idea!
Thanks for what you do!

I have 2 Barred rock, 1 Silver Wyandotte, 1 Rhode Island Red, and 1 hybrid, a Princess Calico, who is growing by leaps and bounds. They're living in my dining room and entertaining my cat; they'll be heading outside mid-April (hopefully), once the coop is buttoned up. My biggest worry right now is that the Wyandotte is a cockrell; so hard to tell at this point but s/he's feisty, loud, and has that "vulture" look. The wattles will be the tell, and then I'll have to rehome him as I live in a suburb (Snohomish County, WA). Am already investigating area farms ... :>{
