Raising chicks in your house

I am not clear from your posting: Are you planning to raise these in a house or an apartment? Forget it if you are in apartment. You will likely get kicked out. With the smell and noise your neighbors will complain.

I raised 18 in my garage last year. Between the dust and smell in the garage we would not wait to move them into the coop at 6 weeks. I cleaned the brooder almost daily. I would never consider raising them in the house.

50 chicks is a lot! I currently have 15 pullets. This was plenty for the first year. I am adding 25 more this year. I will not be getting them until early April. I will likely move them to the coop when they are around 5 weeks old. They will be in a separate coop than the other 15. (I will integrate them when they are about n18 weeks old).

We raise ours in the house in one room till about 6 weeks, then move them out to their building. We didnt have that many at once last year but in 8 days we are getting 50. I have a thread started to post our progress we have pics up of what we have done to get the room ready. You might look at this to get an idea of what we have done. We are also going to be redoing an old chicken coop on our property and are going to have the progress on this topic as well. Good luck
